Upgrade

We have upgraded the Rooster's "lovey" to a wet washcloth. He likes it just fine - in fact, I think he likes it better because it stays moist longer. So do I.. he can't rip off pieces and chew on them. ;)

Hmmm, but I think I'll need to buy him his own washcloths at the dollar store.

Favorite Thing

You remember this song from "Sound of Music," right?

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things

The Rooster has a favorite thing. It's something so powerful that it soothes him when he's having a rough time and keeps him from getting into things he shouldn't. It's better than a lovey or blankey; better than a soft stuffed animal. What, you ask, is this mighty object?

Out of all the super cool toys, gadgets and high-tech clutter his favorite thing is:

A wet paper towel.

Yep, you heard it correctly - a wet paper towel. He loves to rub his face with it, or just holds it to his forehead. He'll wipe off whatever surface he can, he'll bite off small pieces and chew on it (I'm quick to take that from him, though), and he loves to simply hold it in his hand.

It's really not that strange, though. My nephew's favorite thing was a cotton ball.

Well, at least it's an inexpensive item. ;)

Birthday!

Hooray! The Rooster is one year old!

He had a great party! Lots of friends and family showed up. I made a red, white & blue checkerboard cake, we had chips & dip, Aunt Leslie's awesome black bean dip and some little sammiches.

Christopher had a lot of fun eating his cake, too. I'll link to some pics when I get around to uploading them.

*sigh* I can't believe it's been a year already. He's growing up so fast. He's not quite walking on his own yet, but he takes a step or two by himself. He's crawling up the stairs (while I'm not looking!) and loves to dance! Those top two teeth finally broke through, so he'll be chomping on people pretty soon. ;) And he entertains everyone with his "evil laugh" whenever he eats. (I need to record that!)

Pics when I get a chance.
