Yesterday, after getting home, I was taking Christopher out of his car seat for some snuggle time and discovered that his diaper had been compromised. His left side was completely wet as were the car seat cover and the car seat head rest insert. Bleh. I changed him only to find that the diaper was bone dry! His little parts were pointing up instead of tucked into the diaper; ergo, tee tee shot out of the top. *sigh*
Anyway, we've been having
plumbing problems (AGAIN! ARRRRR! But totally different from the past plumbing problems, but still!) and Pete had the water turned off. I needed to wash his clothes and other items, wash Sarah's clothes, wash dirty dishes AND make dinner (which, of course, required water). Trust me, I'm getting to the point here...
So Pete was going outside to work on the problem. I told him that I needed to do all these things ("I'll turn the water back on") but since the car seat was wet with pee how was I going to have Christopher in the kitchen with me while I did my chores? He shrugged and left with Sarah at his heels. Bah!
I stood there for a moment reasoning this out. Should I leave him in the crib to cry while I was busy or what? But then I heard a little bell ring in my head - AHA! - I cried and rushed off to Christopher's room. Yes, there was the sling Angi had given me when I was pregnant with Sarah, right where I put it. I draped it over my head and shoulder, plopped him in and waited for the fussing to begin. Instead, he snuggled his little butt down in there and smiled up at me. Woot!
Now, you have to understand, Sarah hated, and I mean HATED, that sling! She didn't feel secure enough in it. Christopher LOVES it! He leaned back, chilled and started looking for something to eat. Hmmm. Not time for that, so I turned him around to face out. I crossed his little legs and sugged him up at an angle so he could control his head better. He was happy as happy can be - he could see everything! Then I clipped his pacifier to the sling, stuck it in his mouth and went outside to show Pete. He thought it was great. Then I took some laundry downstairs.
It was a little awkward at first. He swung low and I had to do some acrobatic moves to make sure he didn't hit anything. And it was going to be pretty impossible to unload the dishwasher with him in the sling, so I ended up taking it off and putting Christopher in his stroller lying down. He was okay with that, too.
But, the point is he LIKES the sling! I think we're going to use it quite often! And finally let Angi know that she didn't waste her money. :D
