What's new in Sarah's world?

A science lesson

The conversation in the car this morning:

Sarah - Mommy, why is it raining?
Me - Well, there is a low pressure center passing by and it's pulling moisture from the south and making rain. Does that make sense?
Sarah - No.
Me - Hmm, how about when cold air meets warm, moist air, it makes rain?
Sarah - That doesn't make sense.
Me - Okay, there are rain clouds passing over us.
Sarah - No, that doesn't make sense.
Me - Heh. Why do *you* think it's raining.
Sarah - Well, the storm cloud factory is making lots of clouds and making it rain so the plants and animals can get water to drink. And when the plants drink the water it makes them have syrup (aka sap) which sticks to the bugs. Then we have to wash away the bugs because they're icky. And Mommy, there are the comedians...
Me - Do you mean chameleons?
Sarah - Yes, comedians. And they change colors when they're on the trees. All kinds of colors. And the comedians eat the bugs that get sticky with the syrup. But when they change colors the bugs can't see them, so the comedians get to eat all the bugs.

And that, boys and girls, is why it's raining today. ;D
