What's new in Sarah's world?

C-A-T spells...

Sarah continues to amaze me... and I don't know if it's because she's figured things out on her own or if someone has shown her.

For example, for the past few weeks, we've been reading poems from Shel Silverstein's books A Light in the Attic and Where the Sidewalk Ends. We let her pick which ones she wants to hear, 4 being the limit otherwise we'd be in there all night. Anyway, she'll turn the page and say, "I want you to read Benjamin Bunn, Mommy," while pointing to the poem. Of course, I'm astounded: "Hey! How'd you know what that says?" But she just looks at me with a sly expression and shrugs. Hmmm, maybe she recognized the picture. *shrug*

Last night, while reading more poems, she interrupted me and pointed to the shirt of her jammies and told me, "I'm a princess. See? This says PRINCESS."

BLINK!

"How did you know what that says?" She just shrugged again. Maybe Pete told her at some point that her shirt has "Princess" on it - she does have a mind like a steel trap. So I tried to test her and asked her to spell it.

Me: How do you spell "Princess?" Can you tell me what those letters are?
Sarah: No.
Me: Why?
Sarah: It says "Princess" Mommy. Right there, see?

Bah!
