Language mix-up

As you know, Sarah is taking French at school. Yesterday she came home with a worksheet picturing a boy (which she colored) and names the parts of the body. We were naming them in the car. She's so smart.

This morning, she was playing with the Rooster before we left for school and she pointed to his arm. "That's his le bras, Mommy." "Yep, that's his arm."

Then pinching the front of her shirt with the index fingers and thumbs on both hands, she pulled the fabric away from her chest and looked a little confused. "But isn't a bra what covers your nipples?"

Career choice

Me: What do you want to be when you grow up?
Sarah: Hmmm. A BARBIE!!!

New expletive

Sarah likes to use expletives. Now, I don't mean regular cuss words, even though she has tried some out on us. Instead, she's taken some from Spongebob Squarepants like Tarter Sauce! Barnacles! and Fish Sauce!

These are quite acceptable in the house, so she uses them quite frequently.

Sarah: Mommy, can I have some gum?
Me: You have to eat your dinner first.
Sarah: Oh barnacles!

Sarah: Daddy, do I have to go to school today?
Daddy: Yes. It's a school day.
Sarah: Oh tarter sauce!

This morning, as we were on the way to school, she asked if she could stay at home today. I told her that it was a school day (we've been talking about this for a couple of weeks now) and I had to go to work. She huffed and said, "Oh Tartar Toothpaste!"

"Mommy, I want to have my birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese's. And I want a Baby Bratz, and a mommy doll and girl dolls, and a baby, and a big sister doll, and an other brother doll, and a little house with little people, and a car, and a tree, and a chimney, and grass, a sidewalk, and a driveway, and wheels..."

By this time I realize she's naming things she sees out of the car window. "Wheels? What are you going to do with wheels?"

"Put them on the car. And I want a roof, and some flowers, and a stop sign, and a light pole, and stop light, and that and that and that and that."

"Don't you want some paints or books or puzzles?"

"Books? Puzzles? Nah."

Heh. We'll just see about that. ;)
