What's new in Sarah's world?

The Tao of Sarah

"I'm a big girl to do that because I'm a big girl to do that."

"Mommy, when you were a baby, you were little and I was your mommy and you were in my tummy."

"Why?"

"Cloostiffer is a baby because he's a baby."

"It's my birthday because I was born."

Gravity hurts

Sunday morning Sarah was leaning on one of her bed rails, peering over the side at some toys. I was still in my bed snuggling with Christopher when I heard a crash followed by crying. The bed rail had broken causing Sarah to fall nearly 3 feet head first! Ack! The result - she now has one hell of a shiner close to her left temple (too close). It looks a lot better today.

So, we took the rails off her bed. Needless to say that I am quite upset that the damn thing broke! You may remember that when we allowed Sarah to sleep on this bed, I mentioned that I was about 7 or 8 before my parents let me. Pete and I figured that since Sarah doesn't flop around in bed like she used to, she'd be okay.

Wrong!

Monday morning - she fell out of bed. I'm not sure if she was trying to get out of bed at the time, but she fell on her butt.

Tuesday - she wanted to sleep on the floor in Christopher's room. We let her. She got her sleeping bag out and was very happy.

Last night - slept in her bed. I put some stuffed animals in the bed with her in the hopes that they would act as barriers. Wrong! Around 11:30 I hear a crash followed by crying. Fell out of bed again! Yikes!

Time for action!

Pete and I shoved the bed against the wall and reinstalled the un-broken rail last night. I promised Sarah that she wouldn't fall out of the bed again.

I've tried finding the company's web site this morning but to no avail. I'll check the instructions for a phone number. Hopefully they will either replace the broken item or refund our money. If not, well, I know a great products liability lawyer.

Autobiography

Sarah likes to tell people all about her family and herself - all at 90 miles an hour. Just the other day she told the pizza man:

"HimynameisSarahI'mthreeyearsoldandIhaveanewbabybrotherhisnameis
Cloostifferandhecameoutofmymommy'stummyandhedrinksmilkfrommymommy's
nnnnipplemydaddy'snameisPeteandthisismymommyhernameisMandyandI'm

Usually, the recipients are so shocked from the overload of information they usually just stand there with their mouths agape and drool running down their chins. I simply smile and shrug. What can ya do? ;)

Dream Interpretations

The other day on the way home, Christopher was asleep in his car seat but making noises.

"What's wrong with my baby brother, Mommy?"

"Nothing, sweetie. He's dreaming."

"What's he dreaming about?"

"I don't know."

She thought about it for a second. "Maybe he's dreaming about boobies."

ROFL! Oh, the things they remember you saying. ;)

Comparison

Time to see just how much my two precious ones look alike - at least in babyhood. :)

Adjustment

Well, Christopher has been home a little over a week and I must say that Sarah is adjusting quite well. Probably better than I am - heh.

She says that we are not his Mommy and Daddy, we are hers and hers alone. Everything belongs to her - especially toys. BUT, she shares with him, too.

She is constantly wanting attention - "Watch this, Mommy! Watch me! Watch this!" - and gets our undivided attention. ;)

She likes to help with everything - changing diapers, feeding him, rocking him to sleep. She also wants to hold him a lot. She sings him songs, gives him lots of hugs and kisses, and talks to him all the time, telling him how cute he is. ;)

She is the best big sister a little boy could have! :D

Big Sister Sarah

Sarah is now officially a big sister. Her baby brother, Christopher, was born July 1st. She spent Thursday night, Friday, Saturday and part of Sunday with Leslie while Pete and I were at the hospital.

She is so excited that Christopher is here! She has told all her friends and anyone we meet. She is also a wonderful helper! She likes to help change him, feed him, give him a bath and just hug and kiss him. I don't blame her - he's cute as a button!

My baby girl is growing up. She seems like a giant next to this tiny boy! The change has affected her in a lot of ways. She's a little jealous, a little fascinated and I think sometimes a little lonely because Daddy and I have to spend a lot of time with her brother. I feel a little guilty, too. But she is a trooper! She really loves Christopher and wants to spend just as much time with him as we do.
