What's new in Sarah's world?

Nurse Sarah
Last weekend both Pete and Sarah had the flu. It was awful that both my loved ones were suffering - I felt quite helpless at times trying to make them comfy while trying to avoid contact with them so I wouldn't get it. I guess I wasn't careful enough.

This weekend I got the flu - ugh, a completely miserable experience when you're pregnant! Sarah decided to take it upon herself to make me better. Periodically she would come see me, ask me how I was, give me a kiss and run back downstairs. Yesterday she brought me a glass of water:

"Here Mommy. This will make you all better," she said and put it on my nightstand.

"Thank you, honey. That was very nice of you."

"Yeah. Now you drink that up and stay in bed. Okay?"

"Yes Sarah."

"Good." She nodded her head with her hands on her hips, giving me a stern look. She spun around a trotted back downstairs.

The Logic of Children
"Look, Mommy, there's a rabbit," Sarah says pointing to a piece of iron yard art in Georgia's yard. "Ribbit!"

"Rabbits don't say 'Ribbit.' Frogs do."

"Yeah. Ribbit, ribbit!" She begins to hop. "Look, I'm hopping."

"I see. Both frogs and rabbits hop, don't they?"

"Yeah, because they're best friends."

More Names for Baby Brother
Sarah has though of a lot of names for her baby brother, but this next one takes the cake:

Lucifer

Okay, okay, settle down. This is the cat from Cinderella. Naturally, Pete got a big kick out of this.

However, Sarah has come to the conclusion that her brother's name is going to be Christopher. But when she says it, it sounds a little like Croostiffer. Maybe a mixture of Lucifer and Christopher - heh... there's an irony in there somewhere. ;)

Defiance
According Webster's online dictionary, defiance means:

1. the act or an instance of defying.
2. disposition to resist : willingness to contend or fight.

I'm going to add a new entry to that...

3. the typical behavior of a child between the ages 1.5 and 3+ years which can drive a parent into complete and utter frustration; a manipulative tactic used by young children in order to gain what they want by throwing tantrums characterized by loud crying, screaming, thrashing on the floor, kicking, and other methods of major drama. Chances of success may vary.

What's in a Name?
From the moment Sarah was informed that she is going to have a little brother, she and I have been... hmmm... discussing what his name should be. She insists that his name will be Ian. Pete and I are leaning towards Christopher.

Why Ian? There is a little boy who was in her daycare named Ian and she loves him to death. Or is that the real reason? Let us investigate.

Last night she and I were talking about names. "His name is Ian," she said for the millionth time. "I like Christopher," I said. She put a finger to her chin in a repose of deep thought. "Hmmm, I like that name, too."

Aha!

She had a little trouble saying Christopher and we went back and forth on that until she said, "I don't like that name. How about we name him Dacey?" Dacey, as you may recall, is a little girl in her daycare.

This leads me to believe that the real reason she has chosen Ian as a name because she really doesn't know that many boy names or she's not around that many boys. Her other choice for a boy's name is Witt, another boy in her daycare.

Then again, she may really want to name him Ian because she loves the Ian at school. Well, we still have four months to decide. Who knows, he may end up being Ian Christopher Haddin.

Pump It Up
Yesterday Sarah and I went to one of her school mate's birthday party at a place called Pump It Up. To sum up the experience - Wow!

Okay... this place is in a warehouse waaaaay down in Pelham. There are about 4 or 5 rooms available for rent that each have 4 HUGE, GIGANTIC, bouncy, moonwalk type things! I mean, what else would you call them? But they aren't just moonwalks. They have obsticle courses and slides and jump areas and... WOW! And they put Pledge on the slides so the kids go REAL fast!

There must have been about 20 kids at the party. And boy were they going hog-wild! Sarah had so much fun! She wasn't too scared at first - she had a few problems climbing up some of the ramps, but the bigger kids would help her and the other little ones. Plus, there were at least 2 employees who would get in and play/help. I was most worried about kids slamming into each other on the slides. But the worst Sarah experienced was a little "slide burn" on her face (nothing permanent and no marks) and one trip down she bouned and flipped. That scared her. But she shook it off and zipped right back up there. Other older kids were the victims of traffic jams (aka getting a foot in the head as someone slid after them, etc.). But I'm happy to report that there was no blood or major damage. Heh.

After about an hour and a half, we were corralled into another room where the presents and food were set up. The kids sat at tables, ate pizza, had drinks and ate cake. We parents stood on the sidelines. Standing prominently in a corner of the room was a huge blow-up throne the birthday person gets to sit in. Dacey didn't open presents as it was almost 6:00, and I'm glad that was the case. It would have been a terrible mad-house with all those really little kids wanting to "help" and see what she got. Whew!

Sarah slept like a rock!

Will we do this for her birthday? Hmmm, not sure about this year.

New Pitcures
Finally put up some new pictures under duress - Aunt Angi threatened bodily harm if I didn't. ;) They're from Christmas, but they are the "newest" I have. Coming soon - new peanut pics!

Tall Tales
Sarah's imagination has been running rampant lately. Just now she told us that Jack Palance turned her into a duck and killed her. Then she took Jack Palance, pushed him around with her feet until he was dead, like a superhero would.

Naturally we told her that killing and hurting people was bad. We added that superheroes didn't kill people but that they took them to jail. She had to think about that.

I have no idea who she heard this killing business from, but it bothers me. :-/

Jack Palance?!?? *shrug*
