Baby-free for a day
This past Saturday, Sarah spent the night with Aunt Leslie and Uncle Burt. This was the first time she has spent the night away from us since we brought her home from the hospital.
We woke up early Saturday morning and I began to pack her bag. Interested in what I was doing, she thought I was going somewhere and kept saying, "Wanna go home, Mommy," which means, please don't go anywhere. Stay here with me. I then explained to her that she was going over to Leslie & Burt's to spend the night - she was very receptive to that. "Yessyee!" (That's Leslie, by the way.)
She and I arrived around 8:00 a.m. so Sarah could join the Harley crowd for brekafast. She was very excited to be there and immediately began looking for the cats and monsters. Burt and I wrangled with the car seat while she and Leslie looked on. Then Sarah told me to get in the car with them. "I'm not going, sweetie. You're spending the night." She thought for a second and said, "Bye, Mommy." Not a tear, not a pout, not a whimper. She was ready to go and fine that I wasn't going with her. *sniffle*
About two hours later I began to miss her - it was just too quiet in the house! I resisted the urge to call a thousand times to talk to her. Nevertheless, Daddy and I had a fun time - going to see two movies and out to dinner - and I heard that Sarah had the time of her life with her favorite Aunt and Uncle. She was very glad to see me when I picked her up. I'm glad she missed me, too. :)
