Pump It Up
Yesterday Sarah and I went to one of her school mate's birthday party at a place called Pump It Up. To sum up the experience - Wow!
Okay... this place is in a warehouse waaaaay down in Pelham. There are about 4 or 5 rooms available for rent that each have 4 HUGE, GIGANTIC, bouncy, moonwalk type things! I mean, what else would you call them? But they aren't just moonwalks. They have obsticle courses and slides and jump areas and... WOW! And they put Pledge on the slides so the kids go REAL fast!
There must have been about 20 kids at the party. And boy were they going hog-wild! Sarah had so much fun! She wasn't too scared at first - she had a few problems climbing up some of the ramps, but the bigger kids would help her and the other little ones. Plus, there were at least 2 employees who would get in and play/help. I was most worried about kids slamming into each other on the slides. But the worst Sarah experienced was a little "slide burn" on her face (nothing permanent and no marks) and one trip down she bouned and flipped. That scared her. But she shook it off and zipped right back up there. Other older kids were the victims of traffic jams (aka getting a foot in the head as someone slid after them, etc.). But I'm happy to report that there was no blood or major damage. Heh.
After about an hour and a half, we were corralled into another room where the presents and food were set up. The kids sat at tables, ate pizza, had drinks and ate cake. We parents stood on the sidelines. Standing prominently in a corner of the room was a huge blow-up throne the birthday person gets to sit in. Dacey didn't open presents as it was almost 6:00, and I'm glad that was the case. It would have been a terrible mad-house with all those really little kids wanting to "help" and see what she got. Whew!
Sarah slept like a rock!
Will we do this for her birthday? Hmmm, not sure about this year.
